More Home Sweet Home

Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue...

(A little change, a few new paintings, an updated prettiness in my home)

A dog's life

Our Pippin deserves a quick blogpost. She is such a big part of our lives, she shares almost every minute with me since I work from home.
We got her from this wonderful animal rescue centre, Wetnose (http://www.wetnose.org.za/), just outside Pretoria. Her mother is a purebred Border Collie who came to the centre pregnant. We have no idea who/what the father is, but Pieter ordered this DNA test kit online (I have an extremely curious husband) and we will be able to determine her gene-pool very soon.
As mentioned, she is a Border Collie cross and this means a lot of exercise and attention is needed, she keeps us fit and healthy to say the least!
Meet Pippin (as she grew up)...
Pippin CAN jump!
And soon to join our family: Loco Annabelle LingaLinga! A mouthfull, but for a truly deserving giant-to-be...

"Note to self"

I am not really one for inspirational words of wisdom, but I love poems! And these are almost poetic. (I confess, I can be a little cliche, a hopeless romantic,  a teeny bit corny).
I might just print a few and put them in pretty frames on the walls between all the art and photographs.

I am inspired to paint

Since it is so freezing, I can barely stop shivering (and that really makes painting delicate lines a bigger challenge), I spend most of the day hunting for inspiration and beautiful images for future art.
These are a few that caught my eye, and will most probably become paintings in the very near future. (So, watch this space: http://www.ingrideuys.blogspot.com/)

art by friend

Although Louise Kritzinger seems think of herself as more of a sculptor, she has some undeniable talent as a painter.
This was our wedding present, how lucky are we!

Art and Life

I have art that seems be life, and pieces of life that becomes art...

My grandmother and grandfather on their wedding day. Life turned into art.

An artwork by one of my dearest friends, Karen Grunwald, a charcoal/pastel drawing of her great-grandmother. This artwork is a life.

And then there is this. An artwork by my other dear friend, Louise Kritzinger, a cement sculpture of her late dog (she didn't put a cast on the dead dog! Though it can appear to be just that. She made the clay sculpture and then formed the rubber mould, and cast the cement. She works with such delicacy and precision that the art becomes truly life-like). I think it is beautiful.

And the real deal. Our darling dog, Pippin. She is an artwork! I will have to dedicate an entire blog post to her in the near future...
